Avo Trompeta

Wrapper : Ecuadorian Sun Grown

Filler : Dominican & Peruvian

Binder : Dominican

Size: Torpedo (6.5 x 54)

Pre Light

The La Trompeta has a very interesting look with the three circular, lighter colored wrapper holes down the center to make it look like a musical instrument.  The dark brown part of the wrapper is quite oily and has one large vein running through it.  The wrapper smells of pepper and manure after slicing off the cap and putter my mouth to it I can immediately feel the pepper on my lips and tongue.  I get a cocoa and spice flavor off the cold draw.

1st Third

The flavors start off with pepper and an earthy taste.  The draw has really opened up and has become really free.  There is a lot of smoke off either end and cigar feels warm to the touch.

2nd Third

The ash is very loose and flakey.  The cigar has already needed a few relights already at the halfway point.  I’m starting to pick up that sweetness I got on the pre light along with a mild woody flavor.  The pepper has all but disappeared.

Final Third

Needed a few more relights in the final third on the cigar which is very disappointing.  I began to pick up a rich coffee flavor before I gave up in frustration.

I was excited to smoke this cigar considering I really enjoy the other Avo lines.  I was pleased with the flavors of the cigar but the construction was terrible.  I don’t even remember how many times and had to relight the cigar. But hey that could have been the one out of the batch so get out there and smoke one yourself.

Keep em burnin’
