Cubanacan Habano Torpedo

So… This one time… At Civil Cigar DC… I ran into Eddie Tarazona from Tarazona cigars and between glasses of Willet Tobacco Road 8 year and Angostura 1824, he handed me his newest cigar, the Cubanacan Habano Torpedo. Now this isn’t my first time smoking this cigar, but I love it so I wanted to review it!

The cigar has an Ecuadoran habano wrapper, with an Ecuadoran binder and Nicaraguan filler. It’s 6 1/8 by 62. The aroma from the wrapper is sweet floral with hay and wood emanating from the foot. The cold draw has notes of wood and hay with an underlying sweetness. Upon lighting, the first few puffs bring a warm spice and a finish of wood and sweet hay. As I continue to smoke, the spice starts to warm my entire palate, there is a sweet floral mid palate with wood, hay and leather on the finish. The retrohale has a medium cinnamon like spice with plenty of smoke.

The second third continues with spice washing over the entire palate, but it is not over powering. There are sweet, subtle hints of floral notes as well. The finish reminds me of graham crackers and there is a woody after taste. The draw opens up nicely producing plenty of spicy smoke.

In the final third, the spice balances out nicely and the flavors are rich, earthy and woody with a sweet creamy finish. In the final half inch or so, the spice is most noticeable on the retrohale, leaving wood and floral mingling on the palate, with a smooth finish.

From start to finish this was an excellent medium-full bodied cigar, with subtle complexities and great flavors and aromas. The burn and construction were superb. I am always impressed with the quality that Tarazona puts out into the market. I would definitely recommend this cigar for fans of medium or full bodied smokes.
